I hear this monitor is great , however it would not be a monitor of choice for advanced photo editing?
your thoughts
No, it would not be a good choice for photo editing. It uses a TN panel, which is bright and has great viewing angles but generally poor color reproduction.
For now, stick with the 2007WFP if you want a 20″ Dell monitor that you could use for photo editing. It’s a little more expensive but worth it for graphics work.
Hi, I have this monitor and find it very difficult to view at some angles. It seems when I tilt it up, some of the text shows hues of red and green next to or on top of the black lettering, mostly noticeable on thin text. I’m not sure if I have a bad monitor or not but found it not so great on the eyes. I did do a contrast and brightness adjustment and that helped a little. I’m not sure about photo editing, and I may be looking to get the 2007fp myself. I do love this monitor as far as it’s stand and the ability to tilt, adjust height and go portrait with it. The usb slots are nice, too. It just seems hard on my eyes at times because of the color hues I mentioned above. When I tilt the monitor down it isn’t as bad but not sure I want to deal with it. I believe it only comes with a one year warranty vs. the 3 year for the 2007.

I bought this monitor for use in portrait view for reading documents, writing code, and sheet music. The screen is absolutely excellent for these purposes. However, it’s viewing angle is subpar where color consistency is concerned. In landscape view it’s noticeable from 90 degrees onward, but can be ignored. I regularly play Half Life 2 without issues. In portrait view you can throw color consistency out the window. Colors change dramatically at 90 degrees, obscuring pictures quite unpleasantly.
For $300, the Dell 2009w fits my needs acceptably. Overall 8/10.
