Try “Nikon D300″ or “Apple iPod”. Both trigger 8% cashback for eBay.

I thought I’d posted this but I guess it didn’t take. Just find an auction that has buy it now requiring immediate payment and you can test if the cashback is active without committing to buy an item.
Gloria, it may be that you’re either looking at cashback.live.com instead of the main live.com search page, or that your computer has some sort of issue. Try clearing all your browser’s cookies and its cache and reboot your machine; then try the same keywords.

I finally got the banner to show. I tried everything including all the tips in the SD forums etc. I cleared the private data again, made sure the items I wanted were in MY EBAY watch category, signed out of eBay, searched on live.com and put in the words “nintendo wii”. Bingo, it worked. All others did not work for me: “cheap wii, cheap ps3 etc”. For those who couldn’t get through before, try now - it seems to work fine. Happy shopping all! Remember that Xmas is just around the corner

Yes, there is a 6 purchase limit. Microsoft suggests you make another eBay account to continue purchasing after you reach the limit, but I don’t think its entirely kosher. Nobody has gotten shut down for it as far as I know.
They may increase the # in the future, it was originally 3 and then extended to 6.

If you clicked off live and you’re not getting it to appear on eBay, just keep trying. People are reporting trouble with ebay recognizing the click. If you have a tabbed browser, click the link 10 times and check all 10 tabs to see if any show the cashback icon.
I think the 30% cash back program is gone (at least not available at this moment). Does anybody think MS will provide this service any time soon?

I am able to find many links that say ebay.com and has the live cashback link but once I click on it and am on Ebay, there is no banner at the top of the page. It may be dying, but its not dead yet. I triggered it not 10 seconds ago with keyword “Nikon D300″ and I tested it on a buy-it-now item (requiring instant payment), it works.
Note: you don’t need to see the cashback icon at the top of every eBay page to confirm that it is working. As long as you’ve clicked a Live.com link and made your purchase in the next 30 minutes, you’ll get cashback - you can confirm this on the purchase page after hitting buy it now.
It DOES show up, I just bought a capture card on eBay and indeed it shows I’ll get back 30% (though it has yet to show up in my Live account.)

The logo does not need to show on every page, it just needs to show on the buy-it-now checkout page.
Well, something weird is going on with my account. The logo disappears as soon as I log in to my ebay account (even though it was there earlier).
Now, yesterday and earlier today I looked at an ebay item and the logo was there even over the description. Now it’s gone and it doesn’t show up on the Buy It Now page either. That’s after I logged out and logged back in both live.com and ebay, and even after I cleared cookies and temp files. I tried another item just now and the Cashback logo did appear on the BIN page. But not for the item I looked at earlier (which is the one I really want). Does that mean that once you didn’t buy an item within 60 minutes, even if you go back in on another day - a separate Online Session - it’s not eligible for the cashback anymore? Sorry, if I’m asking the wrong person - I called eBay and they are closed already and live.com has a live chat with over an hour wait.
I can’t say I figured it out yet but I noticed certain things.
If the item is under $795 the cashback logo appears on BIN page. It also tells you how much money you’re getting back.
If the item is over $800 (regardless of how much over) and the seller demands an immediate PayPal payment the logo shows up and the amount back shows $200.
If the item is over $800 but it’s a multiple item auction (where you have to specify the number of items) the logo comes on too.
However if the item is over $800 and no immediate payment is required the ebay system freaks out I guess and doesn’t show the logo. The item I was looking at is upwards 3 grand, which is why I don’t see the logo. I don’t know if that’s a glitch or intentional. Will try to find out from eBay tomorrow.

Very odd. I haven’t had the guts to try it on a non-immediate payment item over $3000 recently, so I couldn’t tell you for sure. Please let us know when you get an answer from eBay.
I used the ebay 25% off last week to purchase the laptop I am using right now, so I know this works, and I know how to do it (should get my rebate 12/19). Earlier today I could still get the 25%, but now no matter what keyword I use, nothing will bring up the ebay link. Anyone else having this issue? Live Cashback is currently disabled. This has happened many times before and as far as we know, it will come back. Just keep checking back to see if the percentage goes back up and cashback returns.

John, I’m not sure what you mean. If you bought a buy it now item, you should have initiated the session before finding the item; so even if it was deactivated, you would be able to get it. If you mean you won a bid, then you weren’t eligible for cashback in the first place (BIN items only).
It could be a day, it could be a week.

It really varies, but I’ve found it more commonly down on weekends. My guesstimate? At least a few days, and it may not return to a full 30% or 25%.

I had to upgrade my paypal account from personal into premier because I sold an item on ebay and the buyer paid using credit card. Now I have to pay paypal fee everytime I receive money in that account, even though the sender sends money from checking account.

2) Yes — the limit is $200 transaction. So if you purchased a qualifying $5000 item or a qualifying $800 item, the cashback would be $200, since the current percentage is 25%.

Contact Microsoft through their live chat during business hours. The chat operators aren’t super helpful, but they’ll escalate your issue and get it sorted out.
Personally, I think the MS customer support people are some of the most helpful I have ever dealt with. I told the last guy to tell his manager that he needs a raise. They cleared up two issues I had with EBAY terms that ebay reps couldn’t help me with and MS spent about twenty minutes with me doing so.
Everyone’s experience is different though.

Justin, that’s very normal. It can take up to 2 days to appear.
Its 12 transactions total. Doesn’t matter where they come from as long as they’re buy-it-now and using eBay’s checkout system.

That’s a touchy subject. I successfully used the 10% coupon with cashback and received it without problems, but that was when the program as very new. I have heard that they cannot be combined now, but I would check with eBay and Microsoft through their chat support to confirm that for sure.
they CAN be combined. the terms for ebay specifically say so, although the terms for live.com state they cannot. the ebay terms override the live.com terms. i used the 10% coupon when i bought the tivo hd i mentioned yesterday. a $729 purchase, with s/h and tax, came to just over 800 bucks, but after the ebay coupon and the live.com cashback, my total came to $550.
you can only use the 10% coupon once, though, so make it count!

You can even search for other buy-it-now items… and you won’t see the banner while you are searching for items… but once you enter the listing, you should see the 25% off and it is again working.
So, the only thing that is not working at this time is the banner at the top once you enter eBay. The discount is working, once you get into the buy-it-now listing.

I wonder if it happens now after the item is paid for instead of seeing the amount before.. That would suck cause you would be taking a chance…
Nahh… I believe it will work just fine now. When you click on the buy-it-now tab, it’s showing the discount percentage AND the amount you’ll get back. I think it is working just fine.
What words are you using cause the words that had been working for me are showing nothing now…..
OK they seem to be removing some of the search words cause the ones I was using do not have the link anymore but I found the Wii is still working…… I tested and the Savings at cheakout is back as Eric said to..

It worked for me now. It just didn’t show up on the first page, but after I went to myebay it did. I bought something and then it says I must click “Get Cashback” to create my Microsoft cashback account. When I click that I get “We are having technical difficulties. Please try again later!”
By the way if you want another 10% off, use the coupon CHOLIDAYNOV2008. They both can be used together!
I believe that coupon I gave works only once per ebay account though.
Jim… thanks for the 10% off code… I didn’t know that one. I just tried the code on an eBay item I won a couple days ago. It appears to work, but I don’t have the money to pay for it until probably sometime tonight. I’ll have to come back and tell everyone if it works. Often, those codes only work for the specific accounts they were sent to. So far, I haven’t been sent that code… so when I check out using PayPal it might tell me the code is not good for my account.

I wasn’t sent that code either. I found it posted in a forum and someone else in the forum said it worked for them so I gave it a shot.
Jim, have you tried the code yet? Have you paid for something and it still worked? I’ve found codes posted before, and they appear to work… it takes the money off on the check out page, but the moment you try and complete the payment through PayPal it doesn’t work.
I haven’t been able to complete this transaction yet, as I said, I don’t have the cash at this moment (I’ve been buying sooo much because of the cashback discount)… but I’ll report when I complete the payment.

Nice, not only does the “Get Cashback” link that you get after paying give me “We are having technical difficulties. Please try again later!”, but ebay emails me an email with a “Get Cashback” link in it that goes to the French ebay site, ebay.fr! Talk about messed up.
Andy, my ebay and paypal email addresses are different and it worked for me. I use my wife’s paypal account.
I did use it on an auction that requires immediate payment. I’m not sure if that matters or not for using both the coupon and the cashback.

Well, shucks. Maybe it only works on some ebay accounts, although I have no idea why. It cut a $680 TV down to $612 and I also got 25% cashback of $170.
Here is what my paypal transaction says…
$68.00 USD - 10% Off, $100 Maximum Discount #CHOLIDAYNOV2008 ($68.00 USD)
$347.59 USD - PayPal Account
$264.41 USD - Visa Card XXXX-XXXX-XXXX-
The problem comes when i log into paypal… before the 10% is made, once i get into paypal it tells me the discount is not valid.
I read that also an option is to ask ebay for a coupon.
Do you think its risky to wait and end up without the 25% discount from live.com?
I’ve never seen any indication of how long this 25% discount will be going on. Hopefully they will at least keep it going through the holidays.
