New iMacs next Tuesday?

It looks good for the three of you who were actually holding out for a new iMac, that will probably:
- Look the same.
- Still have a lousy video card.
- Enjoy a slight speed bump, an update to Penryn and 2GB RAM minimum.

Sounds exciting? Yeah, I didn’t think so. Wake me up when the Macbook Pro gets a design update (or the Macbook goes aluminum).

Nikon Coolpix P80 is barely a point and shoot

In an apparent jab to anyone who bought an entry level digital SLR, Nikon has dropped the Coolpix P80, a 10 megapixel superzoom. Incorporating some of their best technologies, like VR (vibration reduction) in its enormous 18x optical zoom, and ISO up to 6400. How well that handles noise is yet to be seen, but the new EXPEED image processor may help.

Other features include a (very large) 2.7″ LCD, Digital SLR controls (Program, Aperture, Shutter and Manual), 13FPS (!) sports mode with up to 30 pictures in burst, Face Priority and a whole lot more.

Did I mention its got a $399.95 MSRP? This looks to steal a lot of the action away from entry level Digital SLRs and might just be enough to sway some advanced amateurs away too.

Griffin Clearboost improves signal, decreases cool

Have you ever thought to yourself - gee, how can I make my iPhone look even more nerdy? Well, you’re in luck. Griffin is killing two birds with one stone with their Clearboost iPhone case, which allegedly improves cell signal while only making you look a little lot dorky.

iLounge spent a week with the little trinket and gave it a respectible B+ rating, citing, “Over the course of five days of testing, we used a ClearBoost-covered iPhone indoors and outdoors alongside one or two iPhones without a ClearBoost case, trying various locations that were known to have great, good, or poor reception. We found that the antenna boosting performance displayed some fairly consistent characteristics: it is almost always a net positive, but it will not be a panacea for those suffering from complete service outages, and under some circumstances, it will do nothing.”
